ABOUT FOOTHILLS PRIDE

In 2020, a courageous group of youth leaders from a local high school, sparked by incidents of homophobia and transphobia on their campus, came together to organize the community’s first-ever Pride celebration – a small, brave demonstration of waived Pride banners, scarves and signs in front of Sunland Park. These young activists envisioned a space where LGBTQ+ identities could be affirmed, celebrated, and embraced in a safer, more inclusive environment for all students. Their leadership marks a pivotal moment in the Foothills journey toward equity and acceptance.  The following year, in commemoration, ST Forward held its first Pride festival.

Sunland-Tujunga Forward is comprised of Sunland-Tujunga stakeholders who are passionate about their community, collaboration, equity and inclusion. ST Forward was founded by local women who saw the need to create a safe space for action, anti-racism, civic engagement and input from diverse community voices.
